prenatal care: goal
A
- Estimate the gestational age (1) accurately and (2) as early as possible
- Identify risk for fetal/birth parent complications
- Provide pregnancy related education/Anticipatory Guidance
- Assess overall health
- Educate all involved with the care of the newborn
- Identify barriers to care/SDOH
- Inform patients of what is involved in prenatal care

prenatal visits
A
- Prenatal visits should occur every 4 weeks for the first 28 weeks.
- Assess fundal height to determine fetal growth
- Birth parent perception of fetal activity through kick counts
- Risk assessment for significant events since previous visit
- Recent travel, illness, exposure to infection, stressors, vaginal bleeding, cramping
- Screening at every visits for
- Intimate Partner Violence (at least every trimester), depression, substance use/abuse (EtOH, Tobacco, THC, illicit drugs, prescription drugs)
