Management of severe PMS:

fluoxetine (similar to menopause treatment, SSRI of choice)

SEs associated with fluoxetine:
A
dizziness, drowsiness, constipation, cardiac arrythmias, galatorrhoea, serotonin syndrome, thrombocytopenia

1st line treatment in moderate PMS:
A
COCP (trial of 3 months then review)

Q
management of severe PMS resistant to medication (not treatable in community)
A
referral to specialist clinic
