Civil War CHECK

A

National Minorities wanted independence and land back so supported Whites
David Lloyd George against Brits helping Whites -Churchill for and Labour against as didn’t want to hurt Russian working class - this is why the British support was only half hearted
Disunity as some White leaders wanted wanted Military Dictatorship and others wanted a return to the Tsarist System
Propaganda - White foreign puppets
White leaders often in brothels of vodka and cocaine
White leaders had harsh discipline and treated Solid with contempt

Mistakes
Four million Reds deserted by 1921
Peasants knew if they retreated from battle they would be shot
White Army corruption
White leaders didn’t trust each other
Whites take land away from peasants
Reds offered wonderful modern society for workers and peasants
50k Romanian Troops and 16k French troops
Reds 5m peak and whites 1m soldiers peak
Bolshevik areas contained main armament factories in Russia so Bolsheviks could produce war materials
Whites scattered around edges of the Red area so couldn’t connect, communicate or co-ordinate attacks of different white peasants
Ukrainians and Georgians wanted more independence so didn’t support Whites in their areas as Whites wanted return to pre 1917 borders.
