KR Arming
The Kornilov Revolt panicked the Provisional Government into arming Bolshevik “Red Guards”.
Storming
Bolsheviks stormed the Winter Palace through an open window at the back. Only 5 people were killed.
Bolshevik building control
As Trotsky ordered, Bolsheviks in Petrograd at night took control of post offices, railway stations, banks, telephone centres & Kerensky’s military HQ: no meaningful resistance.
Trotsky decision
Trotsky decided that the revolution should happen when all of the Soviets met in Petrograd (24th October).
More arming
The German advance on Petrograd forced the Petrograd Soviet to arm even more “Red Guards”.
Assume
Lenin sent a letter to the Bolsheviks’ Central Committee in Moscow
& Petrograd titled The Bolsheviks Must Assume Power.

The Bolshevik Central Committee voted to initiate a revolution in line
with Lenin’s instructions, despite the opposition of Kamenev &
Zinoviev.

from Kronstadt were involved.

Latter October Nature
The Congress of All-Russian Soviets set up the Sovnarkom, with Lenin as its first chairman. (Oct 25th 1917)
- The Bolsheviks issued a Decree on Peace (their intention to end the First World War as quickly as possible) & a Decree on Land (their intention to give nobles’ & church land to the peasants as quickly as possible). (Oct 26th 1917)
- The Constituent Assembly was closed down after one day. (Jan 5th 1918) - Bolsheviks preformed poorly in the election
- The Bolsheviks established the Cheka. (Dec 7th 1917)
