It’s a standard image format for containing lossy and compressed image data.
JPEG- Joint Photographic Experts Group
lossless format for image files that supports both animated and static
images. It was the standard for 8-bit colour images on the internet until PNG became a viable alternative.
GIF- Graphics Interchange Format
lossless compression algorithm and no
image data loss
PNG- Portable Network Graphic
It’s an image editing friendly format that supports multiple image layers and various imaging options.

Unsharp Mask Filter
It shows how the pixels are distributed by graphing the number of pixels at each of the 256 brightness levels in an image.

Photoshop contains over two dozen
palettes that can be shown or hidden by using the Window menu and selecting the palette you wish to reveal.
Navigator Palette
Gamma correction enables you to adjust how an image is displayed on your monitor.
Gamma Settings
Click directly on the curve line and then drag the control point to adjust a tonal
area.
Curve Controls
sharpens an image by increasing contrast along the edges in an image.
Unsharp Mask Filter
the first tool visible in the default Toolbar. shares space with the Artboard Tool
Move Tool
create a rectangular selection
Rectangular Marquee Tool
create an elliptical selection
Elliptical Marquee Tool
can be a bit difficult to use if you need a precise selection, but it works well for creating a rough selection.
Lasso Tools
creates a selection with straight lines. This tool offers a little more precision than the Lasso Tool.
Polygonal Lasso Tool
an object in your image, allowing more control in your selection than the
Lasso Tool, and more flexibility than the Polygonal Lasso Tool.
Magnetic Lasso Tool
selects a portion of your image that has the same or similar colors.
Magic Wand Tool
selects an object in your image by interpreting and selecting along defined edges visible in your
image.
Quick Selection Tool
allows you to select an object within your photo simply by drawing a
selection around the object.
Object Selection Tool
Photoshop will fill all pixels matching the color of the area you’ve clicked on with your foreground color.
Paint Bucket Tool
fill a selection with a gradient instead of a solid color.
Gradient Tool
allows you to rotate and crop your image along predefined parameters. is especially useful if you have a series of product images that all need to be the same size and orientation.
Crop Tool
selects a specific color within your image and sets it as your Foreground Color.
Eyedropper Tool
to “paint” on your image
Brush Tool
to erase part of your image.
Eraser Tool
similar pixels from an image, in much the same way that the Magic Wand Tool selects similar pixels within an image.
Magic Eraser Tool
allows you to select a portion of your image and repeat it into another portion of your image within the same layer.
Clone Stamp Tool
selects a portion of your image and blends it into another portion of your image within the same layer.
Healing Brush Tool
lightens pixels in an image
Dodge Tool
darkens pixels
Burn Tool
only very light areas of your image
Highlights
pixels with colors that are in between dark and light
Midtones
only the darkest pixels
Shadows
controls the degree to which affected pixels change
Exposure
moves the portion of an image that you’re currently viewing.
Hand Tool
allows you to zoom in or out of an image quickly
