When we are getting ready to do a regular ultrasound, what do we tell patient to do? why?
A
drink water because we need the bladder full… the full bladder will distend the bladder and push the uterus up so we can get a better picture.

does it matter if the patient drinks water or pee before a transvaginal ultrasound?
A
no

what do we tell a patient to do prior to an amneicentesis?
A
to pee because we don’t want to poke the bladder
