What is this?
Polymorphic eruption of pregnancy
What are characteristic features of Polymorphic eruption of pregnancy?
Urticarial papules
Wheals
Plaques
When does polymorphic eruption of pregnancy typically present?
3rd trimester of pregnancy
Begins around abdominal striae with periumbilicial sparing
What is the management of polymorphic eruption of pregnancy?
Generally improves towards the end of pregnancy or after birth
Topical emollients and steroids can be used
Oral steroids in severe cases
What is A and B?
A= atopic eruption of pregnancy E type
B= atopic eruption of pregnancy P type
What is the difference between E and P type?
E= eczematous, red, itchy, scaly lesions typically found on backs of knees, neck, underarms, chest and face
P=papular intensely itchy papules on trunk, back and limbs
When does atopic eruption of pregnancy typically present?
Mostly in 1st and 2nd trimester
Can be in patient with or without a history of eczema
What is the management of atopic eruption of pregnancy?
Topical steroids and emollients
Oral steroids if severe
Phototherap- UVB if severe

Melasma
What is melasma?
Hyperpigmentation that occurs on the face during pregnancy
Normally symmetrical, flat and on sun exposed areas
What is the management of melasma?
Avoid sun exposure and suncream
Make up to camoflauge
What is this?
Pyogenic Granuloma
What is a pyogenic granuloma?
Rapidly growing benign tumour of capillary blood vessels
Grows over 1-2 days
Common on fingers, upper chest, back, neck and face
Normally has a red appearance
What is the management?
Can bleed or ulcerate if injured
If presents during pregnancy then normally self resolves
Must exclude malignancy
What is this?
Pemphigoid Gestationis
