Q

Drizzle falls from which cloud type? And the drop size?:

Q

Explain freezing rain:

A

Droplets of water falling from stratus or stratocumulus become super-cooled when falling through temperatures below 0 degrees and freeze on impact

Q

Explain cloudbursts:

A

Even the largest raindrops cannot exceed 30ft/s. Therefore, if vertical up-draughts exceed 30 ft/s the raindrops remain in suspension until the convection is cut-off. The rain wall then fall resulting in heavy short duration showers.
