Pre-Trip Inspection: ENGINE: Flashcards
Lights/Reflectors:
- Left/Right Turn Signal, 4-way’s, Clearance, Identification lights are all amber.
- Headlight’s,
- Hi-Beams/Low-Beams,
- Left/Right Turn Signal,
- 4-way’s are all working properly.
Leaning:
-Truck isn’t leaning? (If so, indicates low tire inflation, or suspension issue).
Leaks:
-No fluids on ground,
Oil, Coolant, Power Steering, Fuel
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: (open hood, passenger side)
Alternator:
- Not CDB.
- Bolt’s not Missing/Loose.
- Wire’s properly connected/No bare wire’s.
- Belt Driven,
- Belt not Frayed has no ABC.
- No more than 3/4” of play.
Windshield Reservoir:
- Not CDL
- has washer fluid, filled to proper level.
- Securely mounted.
- Cap is on.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT DRIVER’S SIDE
Radiator Overflow Reservoir:
- Not CDL.
- Coolant fluid filled to proper level.
- Securely mounted.
- Cap is on.
All Hoses:
- Have Clamps.
- No ABC
- Not Leaking
Wiring Harness:
- No ABC.
- Not Frayed.
- No bare wire.
- No illegal tape.
Water Pump:
- Not CDL
- Bolt’s not Missing/Loose
- Belt Driven,
- Belt not Frayed, has no ABC.
Power Steering Reservoir:
- Not CDL.
- Fluid filled to proper level.
- Securely mounted.
Power Steering Pump:
- Not CDL.
- Bolt’s not Missing/Loose.
- Gear driven.
Air Compressor:
- Not CDL.
- Bolt’s not Missing/Loose.
- Gear driven.
- Air lines are not CDL, have no ABC.
Oil Level:
- Explain Process= “I will check my dipstick, pull it out, wipe it clean, re-insert, pull it out, if below “add line”, I’ll add
- 1 gallon at a time.
Steering: (9 part’s) (remember SUGPTTSSD)
-Steering Column (no more than 10* of play)
-U-Joint’s (Universal Joints)
-Gear Box = Not CDL, Hoses not Leaking and no ABC.
-Pitman Arm
-Drag Link
-Steering Arm
-Steering Knuckle
-Tie-Rod Arm
-Tie-Rod
= NONE are Bent/Broken
-All joints lubed
-All Castle Nut’s are in place with Cotter Pin’s in and bent.
