Pre-Trip Air Leakage Test

Question 1

Verify tractor is in gear, brakes are set, air pressure is built to the governed cutoff (120-125 psi)

Question 2

Turn engine off, turn key back to on position

Question 3

Release tractor and trailer brakes

Question 4

Watch the air gauges and let the tanks stabilize

Question 5

I will hold my brake pedal down for 1 minute. I should not lose more than 4 psi in that time

I’m going to fan my brake and when pressure drops below 60 psi my low air warning light and buzzer will come on

I’m going to continue to fan my brakes and when the pressure drops between 20-40 psi my tractor and trailer brakes will pop out
