nice to meet you / how do you do?
Only used when first meeting someone. Make sure “i” in “mashite” is silent to sound similar to “mashte”.

Although there are other ways to say your name, this is an excellent way to introduce yourself. It is very polite and humble at the same time. It is the equivalent to saying “I am called [name]”.
