What is a chute?
A pen that holds an animal safely in position.
What is a barrier?
A line at the front of the box that the contestant and his horse cannot cross until the steer or calf has a head start. Usually marked with a rope and a flag.
What is a box?
The area a horse and rider back into before they make a roping or steer wrestling run.
Does PRCA allow spurs?
Yes, but must be dulled and cannot penetrate an animals skin.
What is a triple crown winner?
A Cowboy who ins three world championships in the same year.
What is a hooey?
A knot the cowboys uses to finish tying the calfs legs together in tie-down roping.
What is the penalty for knocking over a barrel?
5 seconds, and if you knock over all 3, 15.
What are the team roping penalties?
10 seconds if you break the barrier too soon. And another five seconds if you only rope one foot.
What are the penalties in steer wrestling?
If you break the barrier before it’s released, it’s a 10 second penalty. If they miss the steer, there is no time given.
What are the penalties in tie-down roping?
If you break the barrier before it’s released, it’s a 10 second penalty. If they don’t stay tied for six seconds they will get no time given.
