- Secret police power decreased - cannot detain people without trial

A
- Old communist thought this will lead to the collapse of communism as many of the public was happy
- Brezhnev didn’t know what to do due to Dubcek being close to him

- Aug 1968
- Warsaw soldiers entered Czech
- Dubcek flown to Moscow
- Czech was run strictly Soviet by Husak - all reforms were changed
- Dubcek wasn’t killed - placed in a lower position

Brezchev Doctrine
A
- Used to Warsaw Pact troops to maintain influence
- Any threats/reforms/threats to communism will lead to being invaded by troops
- This was ignored by the West to prevent war
