Practice conditions Flashcards
Tasks being practiced are ordered randomly. Attempt multiple tasks or variations of a task before mastering any one of the tasks (e.g. Practice transferring to multiple surfaces (couch, toilet, bench, chair, stool, car) in one OT session)
Random or Variable Practice
The task is broken down into its parts for separate practice (e.g. Practice dressing ———–> Don/Doff shirt)
Part Practice
Practice time is equal to or less than rest time (e.g. Pratice sessions of a tub transfer are spaced to include rest breaks)
Distributed Practice
Repetitive practice of the same task, uninterrupted by practice of other tasks (e.g. Practicing moving from sit to stand multiple times in a row. Practice sequence of taks “A”, “B”, “C”: AAAAABBBBBBCCCCC
Blocked Practice
The task is practiced in its entirety and not broken into parts (e.g. Practice sequence of tasks, “A”, “B”, “C” ACBACABCCBACABCACABBACCACB)
Whole Practice
Rest time is much less than practice time (e.g. Constraint Induced Movement Therapy)
Massed Practice
