How to calculate percentage absolute percentage uncertainty in repeated data (1 of the ways)
Absolute uncertainty = Range / 2
When a piece of equipment of equipment need to take 2 readings to measure what it is measuring what do you do to the absolute uncertainty?
What peices of equipment need to take 2 readings and what need 1 reading to measure what they are ment to measure
The precision of the equipment
Add both uncertaintys together effectively doubling precision of the equipment to find the absolute uncertainty
2 reedings - anything digital (e.g ammeter), measuring distances
1 reading - thermometer
e.g a ruler takes 2 measurements to measur 1 distence as there is a uncertency for aling the 0 to the object as well as a uncertency for measureing the end of the object therefore 2 readings need to be taken (the begining and the end)
% uncertency =
absolute uncertaint / value
what is the independent veriable
the thing you change (usaly the x axis)
what is the dependent veriable
the thing you measure (usaly the y axis)
safty procedures for using lassers
- wear goggles
safty precedures for using radiocative subsatnces
- wear gloves
- use tongs when moving
how to decreaase percentage uncertency
take meausement of larger values
when you add or subtract data you what happens to the absalute uncertency?
add the absalute uncertencys
when you multiply or divide data what happens to the percentage uncertency?
add the percentage uncertency
when rasing data to a power what happens to the percentage uncertency?
multiply the percentage uncertency
