Investigating membrane permeability

Answer 1

1. Cut beetroot into 8 identical cylinders using a cork borer wipe off excess pigment.
2. Place each of the cylinders of beetroot in 10 ml of 0.1% bleach solution.
3. Leave the samples for 15 minutes.
4. Remove the beetroot and decant the liquid into clean cuvettes.
5. Using distilled water, calibrate the colorimeter.
   6.Repeat step 2-5 with each of the bleach solutions.
6. Measure the absorbance of each sample and record the data found.
