What is a reason for arresting an adult without a warrant when an offence has been committed
- to prevent further offending
- establish the person’s identity;
- Ensure appearance before the courts
- Prevent interference with witness and evidence
- Prevent a person fleeing from a police officer

- Seriousness of the offence
When would you arrest a person after being instructed by another Officer
it is not practicable for the instructing officer to personally arrest the person
When would you give the person the right to call a lawyer or friend and requirements attached
- An indictable offence
- May call lawyer or family to be present during questioning
- Must delay reasonable time to allow person to arrive prior to questioning

Safe guards for oral direction and requirements
If the person fails to comply with the direction or requirement, a police officer must,warn the person—
(a)it is an offence to fail to comply with the direction or requirement, unless the person has a reasonable excuse; and
(b)the person may be arrested for the offence

When exercising power there s a legislation requirement to register the enforcement act.
