An agency in self-assessment discovers there is a conflict between a CALEA Standard and a law or regulations of an external body with authority over the agency, or if there are other situations preventing or prohibiting compliance with a standard. What should they do?

The first step to obtain a waiver is to submit to CALEA a written description of the problem. The description should have any supporting documentation, including the agency’s position on the length of time needed for the waiver. Accreditation
The Commission designates the agency as accredited but requires that the agency take specified measures or precautions to cope with current or anticipated events or conditions threatening or preventing compliance. The Commission monitors the agency as appropriate.
Accreditation-With-Condition(s)
Suspension is a temporary action regarding accreditation status of an agency until a final decision is made by the Commission.
Accreditation-Suspended
The Commission designates the agency as no longer accredited. The agency is required to remove from view any indications of CALEA Accredited status.
Accreditation-Revoked
The Commission postpones its decision on accreditation. The agency maintains its current status until a final decision is made by the Commission.
Accreditation-Deferred
The agency decides to allow its accreditation award period to expire. The Commission regards the agency as no longer accredited. The agency is required to remove from view any indications of CALEA Accredited status.
Accreditation-Lapsed
An agency decides, voluntarily, to discontinue its participation in the accreditation program. In such a case, the agency must remove from view any indications of CALEA Accredited status.
Accreditation-Withdrawn
