When do we inspect PPC
When new or replacement garments are received (e.g. check size and fit)
After exposure to heat, flames, chemicals and firefighting agents
After exposure to body fluids (includes blood)
After laundering, repair or decontamination
At change of shift ensure:
Inner liners are secured in place, all closures are functioning, and the garments have not shrunk
Why do we inspect PPC
Minimise exposure to dangerous substances
Ensure PPC is free of contaminants
Ensure PPC annual inspection requirements are met
Ensure contaminants are not spread to appliances and stations
Ensure firefighters understand the work instructions relating to post incident management of PPC
