PPC/Power Management Flashcards
What is ETF and what is the allowable range?
The ratio of an individual engine torque available to specification torque at the reference temperature of 35*C
.85-1.0
What is the ATF and what is the allowable?
The ratio of an aircrafts power to a specific power reference at a temperature of 35*C. This is the average of both ETFs
.90-1.0
What is torque ratio?
The amount of torque available to a specification torque at an ambient temperature.
What are the four sections of the PPC?
Departure, arrival, cruise, remarks
What conditions do you need to complete the arrival portion?
Increase in 5*C, 1,000’ PA, or 500lbs
What is maximum torque available?
Max amount of torque an engine can produce at 100% R RPM at a given PA and FAT
What is the 2.5 min limit also referred too as?
Contingency power
What is max allowable gross weight?
Max weight that an aircraft can weigh at a 10’ hover IGE or 70’ hover OGE
If the weight is 22,000 this is a structural limitation. If it’s less than that, it’s an engine limitation
What is the Go/No go Torque?
This helps to verify if an aircraft is at or below maximum weight IGE or OGE
When must maximum hover height be calculated?
When aircraft gross weight exceeds max allowable gross weight OGE and power not available for OGE hover.
If OGE does exist, put OGE in max hover heigh box
What is predicted hover torque?
Estimated torque required for a stationary hover using takeoff gross weight with current PA and FAT
What is the predicted single engine hover torque?
Estimated torque required for a stationary hover using takeoff gross eight with current PA and FAT
Double the dual engine to get a quick estimate for SE
What two items in the departure chart are calculated using current conditions?
GO/NO GO Torque and predicted hover torque
What is continuous torque?
A power level the engine can produce continuously and remain out of time limited engine operating limitations
Also referred to as Maximum Continuous Power
What is max range IAS?
This gives you the greatest flight range per pound of fuel
