Exponents
Exponential form-(exponent4) 2 base expanded to 2x2x2x2=16
Negative Exponent
To turn a negative exponent into a positive exponent, cross the line and change the sign of the exponent.
Multiply and divide Monomials
Multiply- if the bases are the same then add exponents, keep the same base. (Ex: 5 (exponent 2) +5 (exponent 6) = 5 9exponent 8)
Divide- minus exponent (do multiply except with subtracting exponents) (ex: 3(exponent 3)÷ 3 (exponent 2) = 3 (exponent 1)
Scientific Notation
Standard form- the full number (ex; 3,000)
Scientific- The shortened version (ex: 3 x 10 (3)). Exponent can be negative if the decimal was moved backwards.
Computer scentific Notation
Count numbers leading to number at or above one, but not above 9, then use the OG number with over decimal times the number of spaces you moved your decimal.
Cube and Square Roots
Suare roots- sq. rt. Of a # is of its equal. Factors- a number times itself is its suare root. (Ex: square root (√) of 64 is 8)
Real Number Systems
Real # not irrational. Examples would be 0.97, 4, 4/5, 0.555…Not real #s- pi, sq. rt. Of 8, .897524
