Basilar migraine
Rare and frightening, symptoms loss or blurred vision, loss balance, fainting and difficulty speaking
Hemiplegic Migraine
Temporary numbness, weakness, or paralysis to one side of the body
Opthalmopeligic migraine
Weakness in one or more of The muscles that move the eye. Rare and occur in young people
Vestibular migraine
Vertigo that can last from min to hours
Abdominal migraine
Common in children
Secondary headaches (symptom of something else going on) examples
Subarachnoid/ subdural bleed, hypertension, meningitis, sinusitis, drugs, tension

Caused by muscle contractions in the head and neck, attributed to stress, pain is squeezing dull achey
What should you consider if you present a group of people with headaches
Carbon monoxide poisoning
When should you be concerned when a patient has a headache
Sudden onset, severe pain, associated symptoms
Cushing triad of ICP (3 signs)
Blood pressure (increasing sys decreasing dia), bradycardia, irregular resps and pupil changes
7 HX questions to ask a patient with a headache
Headache pattern, onset, headache location, associated symptoms, medications, fam he, pregnant?
4 treatments for migraine
Assess for other signs and symptoms for other underlying conditions, high flow oxygen if tolerated, darkened quite environment, no lights or sirens during transport

A temporary loss of consciousness due to shock state

Causes of syncope
ALOT, mainly to do with the cardiovascular system
Three cardiac components that must interact to effectively maintain life
- Heart with good cardiac output, blood and body fluids, blood vessels
3 non cardiac causes of syncope
- Vasovagal (orthostatic, psychogenic), neurological, metabolic
Vasovagal syncope
Most common syncope. Neurocardiac related.
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
Most common cause of vestibular disorder
Ménière’s disease
Recurrent spontaneous attacks of severe vertigo in combination with ringing in the ears
