Power Plant Flashcards
How many FADECs does each engine have
Two single channel FADECs
Where are the engine indications and alerts displayed
On the EICAS
Which position of the ignition selector knob allows the FADEC to control the ignition system depending on engine requirements
Auto
Which thrust position provides the maximum thrust rating available for dual or single engine operation
Max
Which thrust lever position selects the takeoff and go-around thrust and mode settings
TO/GA
What does pressing the EVENT MARKER button cause the ECU (FADEC) to do
Records a total of 3 mins (two before and one after the button is pressed)
When is the OAT in the EICAS indication displayed?
Up until the takeoff run
What are the thrust reversers used for and during what condition of flight
An on ground additional braking device used for landing and RTO only
Is backing up the airplane in reverse thrust allowed?
No
Upon landing, when should the thrust reversers be stowed
40 KIAS
When are the TRs available
With WOW and a wheel speed
What icon on the EICAS indicates the current status of the TRs
a REV icon
What color icon indicates that the TRs are commanded and in transition.
an amber REB icon
Where is the IGNITION status displayed
on the EICAS
What does a green IGN indicate
The ignitions are commanded on
What icon on the EICAS indicates that the ignitors are commanded to OFF
A cyan IGN OFF
Where can the oil level be accurately read
Either in the sight glass or measured via the Remote Oil Level Sensor (ROLS)
When can the oil level be accurately read
from 5 to 30 mins after shutdown
Is the engine oil quantity indication visible with an engine running or in flight
No
What is the maximum oil consumption rate of the engine per hour
.04 qts per hour
List the three sources of air pressure that the ATS can use for start
1) APU
2) Cross side engine
3) Huffer cart
What is the purpose of the ATTCS
To provide automatic thrust increase if the ATTCS is previously armed and any of the following conditions is true on takeoff or go-around:
1) OEI condition detected (N2 Delta of more than 15%)
2) Loss of engine cross communication
3) Wind shear
4) TL is moved to the MAX position
When is ATTCS function available
When WAI is on “ICE PROT” mode is in the ALL position.
Which takeoff ratings may be selected by the flight crew prior to takeoff
The full rate mode (TL-1) and the one de-rated mode (TL-2)
List the engine power settings that may be selected by the flight crew
Takeoff/ Go Around (TOGA) Max Continuous (CON) Climb (CLB) Cruise (CRZ) Max Reverse (for RTO)
When can HP thermal bow occur. If an engine re-start is desired within that period of time, what is the recommended procedure.
When engine starts are initiated between 15 and 180 mins after an engine shutdown. Dry motor the procedure in accordance with the checklist procedure.
