Air Management Flashcards
List the items that use bleed air
1) ECS
2) Engine Start
3) Anti-Ice
4) Main cabin door pressurization
When is the cabin temp control transferred to the VIP seat panel
When the detect C is selected to the PAX CABIN TEMP CONTROL KNOB
In the event of a bleed leak detection, what light will illuminate in addition to an associated CAS message
The PACK, BLEED 1, BLEED 2, or CABIN APU Amber light
When is the outflow valve (OFV) indication on the ECS synoptic page displayed
It is only available on the ground
What are the potential sources of bleed air that the pneumatic system controller (PSC) can automatically select from
1) Engines
2) APU
3) External Connections.
Is it possible to have bleed air from the from the APU and engines simultaneously
No
During normal operation on the ground for taxiing, what is the primary source of bleed air?
The APU
What is the primary source of bleed air in flight
The engines
When will the bleed air source be automatically transitioned to the engines
When the airplane starts running for takeoff (TLA higher than 50 deg)
The XBSOV (cross bleed SOV) is automatically commanded to close for what conditions
1) Bleed leak
2) Over pressure
3) Engine fire
4) A failure condition is identified.
Can the external ground connection be used to supply pressurized air from an engine start
Yes
if an external pneumatic power source is being used and not adjustable, what range should the pressure supply be in
Between 32 and 60 psi
When is fast cooling enabled on hot days
When the difference between the cockpit and cabin temp set point and the cabin/ cockpit zone temp is equal to or higher than 6 deg C
When is fast warming available on cold days
When the difference between the cockpit/ cabin temp set point and the cabin/ cockpit zone temp is equal to or greater than 6 deg C
What happens to the re-circulation fan during fast cooling or fast warming
it automatically sets a higher speed to optimize system performance.
If the AC pack fails, what does the PSC automatically do
It engages the pack backup operational mode and controls cabin and cockpit temp
What is ram air ventilation used for
No pressurized flight or for smoke evacuation.
When will the PSC command the emergency RAM air door to open
In the case of loss of the AC pack and backup pack systems.
How can the emergency RAM air door be manually commanded to open
Through the DUMP button on the PRESSURIZATION control panel
How is the Cargo heating system operated
Automatically by the PSC
When is the main door pressurization seal inflated
After Takeoff
How can the outflow valve be modulated
Either automatically or manually.
What position are the negative and positive pressure relief valves (NPRV and PRV) normally in
Closed
What does pushing the MODE selector button on the PRESSURIZATION panel allow for
Manual control of the pressurization system through the CABIN ALT knob.
What is the cabin altitude rate of change when moving the CABIN ALT knob UP or DN
50/ FT min steps
What happens when the DUMP button is pressed in the automatic mode of operations.
The cabin is depressurized at a constant rate of change of 2,000 ft/ min up to 12,000 ft and the emergency RAM door is opened.
What happens when when the DUMP button is pressed in the manual mode of operations
The cabin rate of change will increase with the duration of the dump command, until either the command is removed or the altitude limit function disables it when the cabin alt reaches 14,800 ft +- 200 ft. The emergency RAM door air is also opened.
