The ability or potential ability of one person to influence or gain compliance of another person. Also the ability to resist being influenced or controlled
Dependency
Power is a function of dependance. Related to the control of resources
Positional Power
from position of hierarchy, formal authority
The boss supervisor or team leader (given formal power)
Personal Power
From one’s relationships with others
Capacity to like, care, give affection, empathy
Hard power
legitimate, formal position. Reward or punish
Soft Power
Expert-knowledge, experience, skills

Power over
by domination or force (trump)
Power with
sharing of power cooperatively
Power within
our centeredness, principles, integrity, honour
Influence
is the capacity to change a person’s thinking, feelings, values and behaviours

Dark side of power can
