E-the first can only make decisions ab out issues that are devolved issues and has no power over reserved matters.
E-for example during covid-19 Scotland couldn’t close the borders to international travel as only west minister and PM have that power.
P- another reason she isnt powerful is she must answer to parliament
E- even tho she is in charge pof the gov and has power she must still go to parliament every week and answer questions that embarass her
E-for example each week nicola sturgeon takes part in first minister question time on thursday at 12PM
P- a final reason she isnt powerful is members of her party can remove her if they are unhappy
E- if her party is unhappy of way things are going or actions she has done they can simply remove her and then she wont be powerful
E-For example, if MSPs did not think the FM was doing their job effectively they could hold a vote of no confidence

P- one way you can participate in our democracy is to stand as a candidate
E- people can get informed about a specific party and then choose a party to represent by standing as a candidate
E- for example after being elected in 2016 gillian martin was then re-elected in 2021
P- another way you can participate in our democracy is to join a political party
E- people can do research on what party is best fitted fir them and then join it, they can even represent that specific party and help gain support for it
E-for example people join political parties to express what they believe in
P- a final way you can participate in our democracy is by joining a pressure group
E-people can joining a pressure group to stand up for what they believe in and what they feel is right, if you join a pressure group then you will have impact on what others choices will be
E- for example the glasgow girls are a pressure group who started after a group of young womens friend got detained before a planned deportation they stood up for whats right and began a petition for asylum rights
