The ability to provide followers rewards gives leaders a form of power. Subordinates respond because they expect to benefit.

Based on the subordinate’s fear of the leader. This form of power is normally maintained by the use of threats and punishment.

A
Possession of particular expertise, skills and knowledge. Subordinates recognise expertise and are willing to accept guidance.

Legitamate
A
Derives from a person’s position or job within and organisation. Legitimate power increases as you go up an organisational structure.

A
Derives from a leaders charisma. People are more likely to follow the lead of a person they like and admire.
