Partial rejection (reject liver)
Joint lesion
If no signs of systemic infection, reject affected area. Trim at next healthy joint.
Tumours/Marek’s disease
Partial rejection if tumour is localised and encapsulated
Total rejection if extensive cutaneous/visceral form of Marek’s disease
Pericarditis
Total rejection when associated with secondary conditions, or when FCI shows positive Salmonella Enteritidis or Tymphimurium
Partial rejection in all other cases
Perihepatitis
Total rejection
Runts
May be rejected as they are a poor size for processing. Likely to sustain machine damage/contamination but if not then technically fit for human consumption.
Salpingitis
Total rejection when associated with secondary conditions
Partial rejection if only oviduct affected
