  1. Depressive symptoms predating pregnancy
  2. Family history of depression
  3. History of premenstrual mood change/OCP use associated with mood change
  4. Inadequate support at home/stress around childcare
  5. Recent traumatic major life events

Postnatal depression - mx (3)

A
  1. Mild-to-moderate = self-help strategies and non-directive counselling (listening)
  2. Moderate to severe depression = tx with antidepressant (e.g. sertraline) + psychotherapy (CBT)
  3. Referral to GP for follow-up (bc increased lifetime risk of further depression)
