Some suggestions for making ethical decisions

  1. Pray for discernment from God.
  2. Gather the facts and determine the issues.
  3. What does scripture say? Do other rules or principles have a bearing on the issue (for example, natural law or civil law)?
  4. What consequences might follow from various alternative actions?
  5. What type of person do I want to become, and how does this decision affect that?
  6. What do others in the church, whom I respect, think?
  7. What does my conscience say?
  8. Discern your options and make a decision.
