-There is no metanarrative for the role of education
-There are no longer barriers e.g Gender, Race
-They also believe there should be no definite curriculum
-There is now diversity in the education system
What do Postmodernist say about economy and education
They recognise that the economy has changed and as we live in a Post-Fordist economy where creative and active workers are needed.
What does Thompson argue?
Argues that in a post modernist society schools can break free from the oppressive uniformity of one size fits all.
Why does Thompson argue this?
As education has become more accustomed to meet the need of diverse communties e.g faith schools.
What are 2 main differences between Modern society and Postmodernist society?

modern-learning takes place at fixed times on the school premises.
postmodernist-learning is flexible (can be done via the internet)

modern-education can only be done from a certain age range.
postmodernist-education can be done at any age.
