What is social solidarity in terms of education?
Social solidarity in terms of education is that education helps bring students together (sense of community).
What is the AO2 of social solidarity?
Assembly-singing hyms.
Sports days-provides opportunities to make friends.
History lessons-promote shared culture.
What is the AO3 of social solidarity?
Ehnocentric-The curriculum and education as a whole favours white culture this would instead of being students together it would divide them.
‘Rose-tinted glass’-functionalist only have a positive outlook on life which means they disregard the problems which there view faces
How does the education system practise specialist skills?
Students are taught skills which would be needed once the enter society this would help them perform whatever they end up doing which is needed in industrial societies.
What is the AO2 for specialist skills?
In school they teach
-punctuality
-organisation
Ect.
What is the AO3 for specialist skills?
NEET-not In education.employment or training
Skills taught aren’t necessary to learn as they might not even be used due to many young people NEET
What is Secondary Socialisation in terms of education?
It is socialising into the value of meritocracy(acheivment based off of effort and ability).This acts as an incentive to work hard.

-qualifications,everyone has the opportunity to have a qualification
-Curriculum,everyone has the same curriculum therefore have a fair chance

BOWELS + GINTIS=myth of meritocracy,acheivements arent based of effort and ability they are based off class.
Private schools exist-students from private schools have a more likely chance of getting a higher job.
In terms of education how do they show sifting and sorting?
Role allocation-move students based of meritocracy.Important jobs are given to able people.
What is the AO2 for sifting and sorting?
Children are put into sets based of there ability so they can work at there own pace.
What is the AO3 for sifting and sorting?
Stephan Balls research-shows that children are put into sets based off there fathers occupation.
