Posterior Thigh muscles Flashcards
Insertion of Semitendinosus
Medial surface of of superior part of tibia
Semitendinosus Origin
Ischial Tuberosity
Innervation Of semitendinosus
Tibial division of sciatic nerve (L5,S1,S2)
Action of semitendinosus
Extend hip joint
flex knee joint and rotate the leg medial when the knee is flexed
when hip and knee are flexed, can extend trunk
Origin semimembranosus
Ischial tuberosity
Insertion of semimembranosus
Posterior part of medial condyle of tibia
Innervation of semimembranosus
Tibial division of sciatic nerve (l5,S1, S2)
Action of semimembranosus
Extend hip joint
flex knee joint and rotates leg medially when knee is flexed
when hip and knee are flexed, can extend trunk
Origin of Bicep femoris, Longus and short head
Long head: ischial tuberosity
Short head: linea aspera and lateral supracondylar line of femur
Insertion of biceps femoris, long and short head
Lateral side of head of fibula
Innervation of biceps femoris long and short head
Long head: tibial division of sciatic nerve (l5,S1,S2)
short head: common fibular division of sciatic nerve ( L5,S1,S2)
Action of Biceps femoris, Long, Short head
Flexes knee joint and rotates it laterally when knee joint is flexed
extends hip joint
