Anterior Thigh muscles Flashcards
Insertion of Pectineus
Pectineal line of femur
Origin of pectineus
superior ramus of pubis
innervation of pectineus
Femoral nerve (L2,L3) may receive branch from obturator nerver
Action of Pectineus
Adducts and flexes hip joint
assist with medial rotation of hip joint
Sartorius origin
Anterior superior illiac spine and superior part of notch inferior to it
Sartorius insertion
Superior part of medial surface of tibia
Innervation of Sartorius
Femoral nerve (L2,L3)
Action of sartorius
Abducts, flexes and laterally rotates hip joint
flexes knee joint
psoas major (iliopsoas)
previous test (SITS)
Illiacus (iliopsoas
Previous test
2/3 SALT
Rectus Femoris Origin
Anterior inferior illiac spine and ilium superior to acetabulum
Insertion of Rectus femoris, vastus( Lateralis, Medialis, Intermedius)
Via common tendinous
independent attachments to base of patella
indirectly via patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
vastus medialis and lateralis also attach to tibia and patella via aponeuroses
Innervation of Rectus femoris, vastus (lateralis, medialis, intermedius)
Femoral Nerve (L2,L3,L4)
Action of Rectus femoris and vastus (lateralis, medialis, intermedius)
extends knee joint
rectus femoris also stabilize hip joint and helps iliopsoas flex hip joint
Origin of vastus lateralis
Greater trochanter and lateral lip of linea aspera
