Via which three bilateral joints does the upper limp articulate to the appendicular skeleton?
Glenohumeral
Acromioclavicular
Sternoclavicular
What 4 things is the glenohumeral joint susceptible to?
OA
RA
Dislocation
Adhesive capsulitis
What is the glenoid labrum?
A ring of fibrocartilage around the glenoid cavity
What is the function of the glenoid labrum?
It increases the size of the humeral head to increase stability of the glenohumeral joint
What can cause a labral tear?
Trauma
Repetitive overuse e.g. swimming
What is a SLAP tear?
Superior labral tear from anterior to posterior

What is the origin and insertion of trapezius?
Origin: Skull and spinous processes of C7- T12
Insertion: Occiput and spine of scapula
What is the innervation of trapezius?
Accessory Nerve CNXI
What is the action of trapezius?
Depress
Retract
Elevate

What is the origin and insertion of latissimus dorsi?
Broad origin: T6- T12, illiac crest, inferior 3 ribs
Instertion: Humerus
What is the innervation of latissimus dorsi?
Thoracodorsal nerve - C6, C7, C8
What is the action of latissimus dorsi?
Extends, adducts and medially rotates the upper limb
