Posterior Compartment Of Thigh Flashcards
What are the muscles in posterior compartment of thigh? (3)
Biceps femoris, semitendinosus, semimembranosus
What are they all innervated by and what’s the exception?
All innervated by the tibial part of the sciatic nerve, except the short head of biceps femoris which is innervated by the common fibulae part of the sciatic nerve.
Origin of biceps femoris
Long head= ischial tuberosity
Short head= linea aspera
Insertion of biceps femoris
Tendon into head of fibula
Action of biceps femoris
Flexion at knee, extends thigh at hip, laterally rotates at hip + knee
Origin of semitendinosus
Ischial tuberosity
Insertion of semitendinosus
Medial surface of tibia
Action of semitendinosus
Flexion of leg at knee, extension of thigh at hip, medially rotates the thigh
Origin of semimembranosus
Ischial tuberosity
Insertion of semimembranosus
Medial tibial condyle
Action of semimembranosus
Flexion of leg at knee, extension of thigh at hip, medically rotates the thigh
