Middle class invented it because they aspired to be like the upper class but were excluded from real tennis

In peoples houses in their gardens at first but eventually private tennis courts were created

Increased sales and profit
Creates association with excellence at highest sport levels
Increased brand awareness and value to brand
Improves company morale
Sponsorships decrease amount of tax paid by company (tax relief)
Globalisation
Process whereby nationals are increasingly linked together and people are becoming more independent via travel travel and communication improvements
How is globalisation seen in sport
Increased pressure on athletes to perform
Spreading of different sports to new nations
The players are recruited to play for team as in other countries
