Timing-
Modernism - starting in the 19th century - 1960’s used minimalist designs consisting of line, and colors to try to make the most aesthetically appealing art
Postmodernism - beginning after modernism in the 1960’s it consists of using designs from the modernist era but adding a critique or an observance of the outside word
Compare and contrast with modernism in art
No connection to the events of the world (Picasso and Berger) No illusion, of depth, light, shape Just shapes and lines, nothing else Not much variation for art styles Optimistic/Utopian view of the world
