Positive and Negative Feedback 4.2.2 Flashcards
What is amplification?
What are ectotherms?
What are feedback mechanisms?
Physiological reactions within the body that work to return the body to its normal condition
-(returns back to the set point)
What is homeostasis?
Refers to a stable internal environment within an organism
What is positive feedback loop?
Reinforce and increase the output the output of the stimulus until the stimulus is not
working through a change
(1 scenario)
ex.
childbirth
What is negative feedback loop?
Maintain homeostasis by regulation physiological processes
(one or more scenario/sides)
-more common
looking for solution
ex.
blood sugar levels
osmoregulation (regulation water and salt concentration, produces a feeling)
thermoregulation
What is set point?
Refers to the normal value of point of equilibrium maintained by the body (loops)
What is stimulus?
Detects a change in the environment
(detection from a sense organism)
control center (brain) = receives and process the message (commands effector)
the effector = opposes or enhances stimulus (responds to the command center)
Organism that maintain their body temperature on their own
-thermoregulation
(don’t really have to work for it)
ex.
human
