What is Colheita?
Tawny wines from a single vintage aged in cask for a minimum of 7yrs
What is Garrafeira?
Wines that are aged in cask for 4-8yrs with an additional 15yrs of bottle maturation. (Min 19yrs old)
What does Velho mean in Port?
Old.
Wines that are 10 or 20yrs may be labeled Velho
Wines that are 30/40 or 50yrs may be labeled Muito Velho
What does crusted mean in Port?
Indicates that the wine has been matured and has left sediment in the bottle
What are the rules for Vintage Port?
Must be bottled by July 30th of the 3rd year following harvest
May be sold from May 1st of the second year following harvest.
