Population Ecology Flashcards
1
Q
Population Ecology
Definition
A
The study of how and why population size changes over time and the effects that population change has on the population.
2
Q
Reasons for studying Pop Ecology
A
Provides important info for maintaining ecosystems that serve us
Ex. understanding how populations of food grow, so to better plan farms
3
Q
Methods and Questions
A
- Figure out how many individuals there are in a population and why the population is gropwing or declining
- monitoring the changes of specific elements of a population (numbers, ages, sex ratio) over time
- keeping track of factors that effect these changes, and making predictions about and studying outcomes of population changes

Q
Exponential Population Growth
