How to measure population density

A

Count all individuals.
Count individuals in random sample areas or along transects.
Convert from density of indicators (Nest, Burrows, Fecal droppings etc).

A

Capture a set of individuals.
Mark and release them.
Wait for them to mix.
Capture a set.
The proportion of marked individuals in the second sample is approximately the same as the proportion of marked individuals in the whole population.
