Population Flashcards
Number of people per doctor
A high number of people per doctor shows a lack of healthcare provision. The more people per doctor the less dveloped a country will be because there isn’t enugh money to educate them. Devepeloping countries often have a poor education system and a lack of universites to train qualified doctors. Goverments in developing countries connot afford to keep hospitals stocked with adequeste provisions
The number of births per 1000 woment per year
The lower the number of births per women the more developed the country will be because there is a low infant mortality rate and women do not need to have “extra” children to ensure some service. Subsistance farmers need a big workforce and having a high birth rate provides farmers with a workforce. Contraception is widely availble and family planning cliincs allow women to plan for a baby.
Relief
