Q

what areas of the world are more densely populated

A

places with temperate climates. places nearer to the equator and places with a reliable source of water. Places that are not very mountainous and easy to traverse. And places with fertile soil, fit for growing crops and making food.

Q

what are some problems that come with overpopulation

A

It speeds up the process of global warming and pollution. there is a higher demand for natural resources and materials. forests are cut down and overcrowding causes diseases to spread faster.

6
Q

what factors cause overpopulation in MEDCs like GBR

A

immigration and high birth rates. Immigrants that come from countries with high birth rates will also bring their culture of high birth rates with them.

9
Q

how can OP in GBR compare to OP in Nigeria

A

Nigeria overpopulation causes suffering and for many to go without food or the basic necessities. This usually stays within Nigeria and doesn’t directly affect the rest of the world. but in Britain it causes the rate of consumption to Increase and this means they have to import more food from other countries and this affects everyone,

12
Q

how does overpopulation contribute to overfishing

A

when there are more people on the earth more people need food and the ocean is the largest food source in on the planet. this causes more and more fish to be caught in more and more environmentally harmful ways.

13
Q

what are some arguments that OP is a myth

A

the UN states that the population will start to level out around 2050 and hit it’s peak. The population needs to grow to replace the previous generation. (we have enough land to live and grow on) We have plenty of food to give to everyone.

14
Q

how does poverty make an effect

A

so long as there is poverty. the population will continue to grow. This is due to how women are unable to get schooling and don’t end up having a career so they have kids earlier rather than later. Places with poverty will also have higher death rates and so that brings along higher fertility rates so that all of a woman’s children don’t die.
