what was society like before the Industrial Revolution

A

-society was a feudal system based on 2 divisions comprised by 2 class structures which were the lower class classed as peasants and the upper classes classed as the gentry
-society was based around agriculture, farming and cottage industries
-most people lived in the countryside in villages and there were few towns and cities.
-the gentry owned the land and employed peasants to work and farm for the land
-there were only small amounts of rest for the working class on religious/saint days.
-life was harsh, pay was irregular, society was violent
-there was widespread illiteracy rates due to limitted education in working class
