Polynominals Flashcards
-3x2 * y3
What is the degree and what is the coefficient?
degree is 5 and coefficient is -3. Degree is sum of exponents and coefficient is the number infront
Write in descending order:
4y+3y2+2y4-9
descending order refers to the degree.
2y4+3y2+4y-9
Subtracting Polynominals
2x2+9x-5)-(9x2+3x-5
intuively, squared minus squared and so on …. or
infront of the 2nd polynominal comes a 1, so negative one, which has to be outmultiplied with the in parantheses standing 2nd polynominal. The first one stays untouched
(2x2+9x-5)-1(9x2+3x-5)
2x2+9x-5-9x2-3x+5
(4x2 y3)(5x3 y5)=
20x5+y8
4x(x**2-2x+5)
4x3-8x2+20x
Product of Polynominals:
(3x+7)(2x+3)=
3x(2x+3)+7(2x+3) then calculate
(2x+5)**2=
This is a polynominal, so don´t!! just square whats in parentheses. Instead:
(2x+5)(2x+5)
(4r2 s3)2
__________
8r3 s**4
42 r4 s6
__________ = 2rs2
8r3 s4
