Constant
A monomial with no variable
ex: 5

ex: 4x + 5y + 6z
Polynomial
An expression with two or more terms. It cannot have a negative exponent or have a variable in the denominator. Should be written in descending order and alphabetical.
Like terms
Terms that have the exact collection of variables although they may have different coefficients.
Degree of the term
Is the sum of the exponents of all the variables in that term
Degree of the polynomial
The largest degree out of all its terms (polynomial must be simplified)
Leading term
Is the term with the highest degree. If in descending order it will be the first term.
Exponet
A number indicating how many times to use the base as a factor.
