Accidental spill responsibilities
Report to Coast Guard, contain oil, remove oil.
Small discharges
Mix with existing oil in water.
Small vessels responsibility.
Refueling and bilge discharge.
Reporting discharge
Name, company name, type of discharge, report in log.
Clean up
Booms and sorbant material. Vacuum.
Water, wind, tides, and currents can adversely affect cleanup.
Chemicals can only be used by agents.
