Designation of as an official candidate of a political party.
What is a Party Electorate?
Any one who identifies as republican or democrat.

What were the parties in the first party system?
Federalists and Democratic Republicans
What were the parties in the second party system?
Democrats and whigs
What is a national convention?
a gathering of delegates of a stage political party from across the country to choose candidates for president and vice president and adopt a party platform.
What is a Party Platform?
The statement of policies of a national political party.
