This was due to their both economical recovery and success abroad

- Paul Von Hindenburg: one of Germany’s war leaders in WW1 and was elected president in 1925 showing a the old conservative order accepted the republic
What where some reasons as to why the German economy seemed to flourish ? 1924-29
- loans from the US
- Hyperinflation allowed for big businesses to pay of debts
- industrial growth
What where workers like during this period ? As in better of or not, 1924-29
- generally better off as wages increased and working day set at 8 hours
- seemed to be good relations between workers and employers with strikes being extremely low between 1924-29
What was the underlining issue with the German economy? Think of the cycle.
The US loaned so much money to Germany it kept it afloat and as soon as the loans stopped coming in Germany could collapse or face harsh economic repercussions
What sections of the German economy where not doing so well ?
- farmers: facing increasing needs to modernize however lack of profit and debt lead to lack of investment into new machinery
- lower middle classes did not recover from hyper inflation and felt as though the Weimar Republic had ignored them
What was the Locarno Pact and when was it ?
1925
- improve relations between Ger and Bri+Fra and gain co operation to reduce worst features of Versailles
- between Brit, Franc, Ital, Belg and Ger all agreed to keep existing boarders
- marked germanys return and began a period of Co operation
What is the League of Nations and why was it important for Germany ?
- international organization established in 1920
- in 1926 Germany is given a seat after improved relations from the Lacarno pact
- Stressmann used this position in the league to help bring about her young plan, also helped gain back some of Germany’s prestige on the world stage
When was the pact signed and what was the Kellogg-Brian’s Pact ?
- signed in 1928 by Germany along with 64 other nations
- agreed on keeping armies for self defense only and showed improved relations on the world stage
What was the impact of the Locarno Pact and Kellog Brian Pact?
- Allies where reopen to negotiating reperations
- this meant for the first time payments where reduced making it more manageable
- opposed to by leading German Industrialists

- allied troops withdraw from West Bank of the Rhine five years before the scheduled 1933
